Explanation 説明
Gives an instruction, often from a parent or teacher to a child. It is less rough than a bare imperative, but it still assumes authority.

How related patterns differ 比較
てください requests an action; ないでください asks someone not to act. なさい often comes from an authority figure. てもいい permits; てはいけない prohibits. Prohibitive forms and べからず can be stronger or more formal, so social context matters.
