Explanation 説明
Shows that the degree of one condition rises or falls together with another. Repeat the same verb or adjective in the conditional part and before ほど.

How related patterns differ 比較
ば～ほど links increasing degrees. より and のほうが compare two sides; ほど～ない denies equal degree. と同じ states similarity, while のなかで～いちばん selects the highest degree in a group. These comparisons do not all share the same attachment.
